FAQs – ECA Booking Portal

Questions about the online booking process:

The ECA booking portal is a brand new system, created for the purpose of streamlining our ECA registration process. This program has been tested by members of the PAC who found it easy to navigate and easy to use. We have created this guide to help parents learn this new system. We hope you find it useful. 

How do I book a place? 

All Extra-Curricular Activities are booked and paid online, using a secure booking portal: https://ecareg.ie/stepasideetns/ 

You will receive an email with the date and time when the ECA booking portal will open. Once the portal is open, please click on the link and follow the instructions. 

Early booking is recommended to avoid disappointment. Places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. We can only accept bookings through our online portal for payment; cash payments will not be accepted.

How does the booking site work?

You can choose activities for more than one child from each category, Junior & Senior Infant activities and 1st-6th class activities, during the same selection.

Select the activity of your choice, this will bring you to a booking page. 

Then choose the number of places you would like to book. Please fill in the details for each child attending the activity and click the ‘Send your booking‘ button. (We need student details for each activity as these have to be passed on to each ECA provider.)

You can keep track of any added activities in your ‘Event Bookings Cart’ in the right sidebar.

You can either return to the ‘Extra-curricular activities’ page to choose more activities for your child(ren) or click ‘View my cart‘ to either review your selection or proceed to ‘Checkout’. Added activities can only be held in your ‘Cart‘ until the class is fully booked. Once the class is fully booked, your reservation will be gone, a place is only confirmed once it is paid for, so you need to check out quickly.

In ‘View my cart’ you can click on ‘Detail‘ under each activity to review all details added to this booking. You also have the option to delete any activity from your ‘Cart‘. If you would like to amend the number of places for an activity, you have to delete that activity from your ‘Cart’ and then add it again and choose the correct number of places.

Once you are happy with your choice please click ‘Proceed to Checkout’. This will take you to the payment page. Your booking will not be confirmed until payment has been received. You will get an email confirming your payment and placement in the class(es). 

NB: Remember a place in an activity is only confirmed when payment has gone through, so you need to move on to checkout and complete payment as soon as you can. Added activities can only be held in your ‘Cart’ for 30 minutes or until the class is fully booked. Please note in the past some classes were fully booked in a matter of minutes. Once the class is fully booked, your reservation will be removed from your Cart if payment hasn’t been completed. 

Is my booking confirmed once I add activities to my cart?

No. Once you have added all activities to your cart, you must proceed to check out. Adding activities into your cart alone will not reserve them, they are only confirmed once you have proceeded to check out and the payment has gone through.

Why do I have to add my children’s details for each activity?

We offer a ‘multiple booking system’, allowing parents to add activities for more than one child to their cart in one transaction. Many parents have more than one child in the school and we need to know which child will attend which course and print important details including emergency phone number, allergies etc. for each ECA provider..

Why was my booking cancelled?

Your booking will be cancelled if your payment is declined by your bank, which may be due to insufficient funds or because your bank detects an irregular payment. Unfortunately, we cannot make exceptions to our first-come, first-served rule if a payment is declined by your bank.
